What Mosey does

Food festivals: find one, get tickets, collect stamps and rate the stalls

A food festival on Mosey has its own page with dates, the line-up, what each stall serves, tickets where they are on sale and a free tasting passport.

How do food festivals work on Mosey?

A food festival is a place on Mosey whose time is made of editions, such as one year’s weekend. The organiser, an organisation approved on Mosey, publishes an edition with its dates, its site and its line-up of stalls.

Each stall is an ordinary place with its own page, followers and ratings, so a taco truck at three festivals is one listing, not three.

How do I use a food festival in Mosey?

  1. Find the festival

Look for Festivals coming up on Home, or search for the festival by name. Its page shows the dates once the organiser has confirmed them.

  2. Plan your day

See the line-up, what each stall will serve with prices and allergens, the stall map and the opening hours. Buy tickets if the festival sells them here.

  3. Taste, stamp and rate

Collect a stamp at each stall in the free tasting passport, and rate the dishes you try while you are there.

When is the festival on?

The page shows dates only from a published edition. A festival that has none yet says when it is usually held, such as a month, and links to the organiser’s own site to check.

Publishing needs a description, dates, a site and at least five stalls on the line-up, so a published page is a real plan. A festival shows on the map only from a week before its first day until its last.

Who is trading, and what are they serving?

The line-up lists every stall that has said yes to the festival. Each stall writes its own dishes, with prices and allergens, and marks a dish sold out itself.

Allergens read Contains, No allergens declared, or Allergens not listed, ask the stall. Not listed never means safe. While the festival is on, Popular right now shows dishes that at least two different people have rated in the last hour.

What does “Trading at” mean on a stall’s page?

A stall’s own page has a Trading at row for the festivals it is on the line-up of. Each shows the festival, its dates and the stall’s place. Tap one and it opens the festival at that edition.

The row leaves out a festival with no public page and an edition that has already finished, and the app shows at most five. If a stall is at no festival, the row is not there.

How do tickets and entry work, including for several days?

Where a festival sells tickets, the page shows the price and a Get tickets button. Your seats are held while you pay, and the organiser can limit how many one person may buy. If it is not on sale, the page says why.

A festival that runs over more than one day sells one ticket for all of them. A scan admits up to the seats on the ticket each festival day, using the day at the festival itself. Scan again the same day and it says everyone is in for today. The next day it admits again.

What is the tasting passport?

A festival can offer a free tasting passport with one stop for each stall. You collect a stamp at each stall and earn a badge when you finish. It is a food trail made for a festival.

You show your passport QR to the stall’s staff, or tap the Mosey tag where the festival has set up self-serve stamps. You have to be at the festival: within five hundred metres of its site, on a day it is on.

How do I rate a stall or a dish at a festival?

Open a stall from the festival page and rate it, and pick the dishes you ate from the festival menu. The rating counts once, on the stall. Ratings by a stall’s own team are left out of the festival’s numbers.

A dish or a stall shows a score only once two different people have rated it. The Results tab shows best-rated dishes and stalls, and a photo wall with no names.

What happens after the festival?

The day after, if you were there, meaning you checked in at the door, got a stamp or rated something, and have not rated the festival yet, you get a note asking how it was. A push only comes if you said yes to hear from the festival.

After an edition ends, or when a festival has no dates, you can ask to be told once when the next one is announced.

Why use Mosey at a festival?

Because the festival page only says what the organiser has confirmed, the stalls describe their own dishes and the ratings come from people who tasted them. Nothing on the page is a guess.

  • Dates appear only when the organiser has published them.
  • Allergens are marked as not listed when a stall has not said, never as safe.
  • A rating counts once, on the stall that served the dish.

Questions about food festivals

  • Does every food festival show its dates?

No. A date is shown only when the organiser has published that edition. Until then the page says when the festival is usually held and points you to the organiser’s site.

  • Do I need a ticket for a food festival?

Only where the festival sells tickets through Mosey. If it does, the page shows the price and a button. If not, the page says why in words, such as tickets not being on sale yet.

  • What does a ticket for several days do?

It works on every day of the festival. Staff admit everyone on the ticket once each day, so a ticket for four admits up to four people a day. The next day it admits again.

  • Is the tasting passport free?

Yes. It is free to join and you finish it for a badge. Where entry needs a ticket, you still need one to get in.

  • What does “Trading at” mean?

It is a row on a stall’s own page listing the festivals the stall is on the line-up of, with dates and the stall’s place. Tap one to open the festival at that edition.

  • Where does the ticket money go?

To the festival organiser’s own payout account, not to a person and not to the place hosting the festival.

  • Can I get a refund on a festival ticket?

You can ask in the app. The festival’s organiser decides and can approve it in full, for chosen seats, for an amount, or decline it.

  • When does a festival appear on the map?

Around its dates only: from a week before the first day until the last day.
