Mosey is a food discovery platform that connects people with great dining experiences across Ireland. Our community guidelines ensure a safe, authentic, and food-focused community where users can share genuine experiences and businesses can engage with customers effectively.
These guidelines apply to all content posted on Mosey, including reviews, photos, comments, business posts, and messages. By using Mosey, you agree to follow these guidelines and understand that violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent account termination.
What Content is Allowed
Food-Related Content
Users can post:

Reviews and photos of meals, drinks, and dining experiences

Content related to your visit (restaurant atmosphere, service, location)
-
Food-adjacent activities connected to your dining experience (walk before/after meal, drinks afterward, scenic drive to/from restaurant)
-
Holiday or travel content when featuring multiple dining experiences
-
Special occasions and celebrations at food venues
Businesses can post:

Menu items, restaurant photos, and dining space images

Events, promotions, and special offers
-
Behind-the-scenes content related to food preparation and service
-
Staff announcements and business updates
-
Community engagement related to food and hospitality
Authentic Reviews and Ratings
Your reviews must reflect your genuine, personal experience. When rating businesses:

✅ Share your honest opinion about food, service, and atmosphere

✅ Mention staff by first name when giving positive feedback
-
✅ Describe specific issues with service when providing constructive criticism
-
❌ Don't mention staff by name when giving negative feedback about service
-
❌ Don't include staff surnames in any context

❌ Don't post reviews for experiences you didn't personally have
What Content is Not Allowed
Fake Reviews and Spam
We will remove content that:

Contains fake reviews or ratings for experiences you didn't have

Reviews posted on behalf of others or at someone else's request

Artificially manipulates likes, followers, or engagement

Repeatedly contacts businesses for commercial purposes without consent

Contains scams, fraud, or deliberately misleading information

Impersonates other people, businesses, or organisations
Review Verification: When businesses contest reviews, we may ask you to verify your visit with proof such as receipts, booking confirmations, or bank statements. You have 48 hours to provide verification or the review will be removed.
Harmful Content
We will remove content that:

Contains hate speech, harassment, bullying, or threats

Targets individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics

Promotes violence, criminal activity, or illegal behaviour

Contains graphic, violent, or disturbing imagery

Supports terrorism, organised crime, or hate groups

Threatens harm to people, animals, businesses, or property

Contains defamatory statements about individuals or businesses
Inappropriate Content
We will remove content that:

Contains nudity or sexual content (exceptions for breastfeeding in food-related contexts)

Shows sexually suggestive behaviour, intimate activities, or explicit language

Promotes or facilitates illegal activities, drug use, or gambling

Contains political content that may cause harm or promote discrimination

Promotes disordered eating or dangerous weight loss behaviours
Commercial Violations
We will remove content that:

Fails to disclose paid partnerships, sponsorships, or material benefits

Attempts to buy or sell non-food items through the platform
-
Promotes non-food businesses or services
-
Violates intellectual property rights or copyright
-
Uses misleading AI-generated content or edited media
Off-Topic Content
We may remove content that:

Has no connection to food, dining, or hospitality experiences
-
Focuses primarily on political topics unrelated to food
-
Contains news or events unrelated to food or dining
-
Repeatedly posts non-food content despite warnings
Content Review and Enforcement
Detection Methods
Mosey uses automated technology and human moderators to identify content that may violate these guidelines. Content may also be flagged through community reporting.
Reporting Content
Users can report content that violates these guidelines by selecting from these categories:

Fake review or spam

Inappropriate content (nudity, violence, harassment)

Hate speech or discrimination

Copyright infringement

Off-topic or non-food related

Other policy violations
Enforcement Actions
When content violates our guidelines, we may take the following actions based on severity:
Content Removal: We will remove content that violates these guidelines
Warning: First-time or minor violations receive warnings with explanation
Account Suspension: Temporary suspension for repeated or serious violations
Account Termination: Permanent removal for severe violations or repeat offenders
Identity Verification: We may require identity verification to maintain account access
Penalties for Violations

Minor violations: Warning with explanation of guidelines

Moderate violations: 24-hour to 7-day account suspension

Serious violations: 7-day to 14-day account suspension

Severe violations: Permanent account termination

Illegal activity: Account termination and potential law enforcement notification
The specific penalty depends on the nature and severity of the violation, your account history, and whether the violation appears intentional or accidental.
Repeat Violations
Multiple violations may result in escalated penalties. We consider both the frequency and severity of violations when determining appropriate action.
Business Review Disputes
Businesses may contest reviews that they believe violate these guidelines. When a review is contested:

We will ask the reviewer to verify their visit within 48 hours

Acceptable verification includes receipts, booking confirmations, bank statements, or other proof of visit

If verification is not provided within 48 hours, the review will be removed

If verification is provided, we will review the content against our guidelines

Reviews that comply with guidelines will remain published
Appeals Process
If your content was removed or your account was suspended and you believe this was done in error:

Include details about the specific content or action you're appealing

Provide context if you believe the decision was made without proper context

Wait for response - we will review and respond to appeals within 30 days

Mosey may require identity verification to maintain account access, particularly when:

Content moderation involves processing your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. When you post content, you retain ownership but grant Mosey the right to moderate, review, and potentially remove content that violates these guidelines.
