Getting Started

How do I download and install Mosey?

  1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)

  2. Search for "Mosey Food Finder"

  3. Look for our logo and tap "Install" or "Get"

  4. Wait for download to complete

  5. Tap the Mosey icon to open

  6. Allow location permissions when prompted for best experience

    System Requirements:

iOS 13.0 or later / Android 8.0 or later
100MB free storage space
Internet connection required
 

Account Creation Process

  1. Tap "Create Account" on the welcome screen

  2. Choose sign-up method:

    • Email address + password

    • Sign in with Apple (iOS only)

    • Sign in with Google

  3. If using email:

    • Enter valid email address

    • Create password (8+ characters, 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 number, 1 symbol)

    • Confirm password

  4. Tap "Create Account"

  5. Check your email for verification code

  6. Enter 6-digit code in the app

  7. Complete profile setup:

    • Add profile photo (optional)

    • Enter username 

    • Add bio (optional)

    • Set privacy preferences
       

Email Verification Issues

Code not received?

  • Check spam/junk folder

  • Wait up to 5 minutes (codes can be delayed)

  • Ensure email address was typed correctly

  • Check your internet connection

Still no code after 20 minutes?

Code expired?

  • Tap "Resend Code" to get a new one

  • Codes expire after 15 minutes for security
     

Password Requirements & Issues

Password must include:

  • Minimum 8 characters

  • At least 1 uppercase letter (A-Z)

  • At least 1 lowercase letter (a-z)

  • At least 1 number (0-9)

  • At least 1 symbol (!@#$%^&*)

Good password example: FoodLover123!

Password not working?

  • Check caps lock is off

  • Ensure all requirements are met

  • Try typing password in notes app first to verify

  • Use "Show Password" option to check for typos
     

Forgot Password Recovery

  1. On login screen, tap "Forgot Password?"

  2. Enter your email address

  3. Tap "Send Reset Link"

  4. Check email for reset link (check spam folder)

  5. Tap link in email

  6. Create new password following requirements

  7. Login with new password


Reset link not working?

  • Ensure you're using the most recent reset link

  • Links expire after 1 hour

  • Try copying and pasting the link

  • Contact support if link appears broken

 
Profile Setup & Management
Profile Information


Required Information:

  • Email address (private)

  • Display name (public)

  • Password


Optional Information:

  • Profile photo

  • Bio (160 characters max)
     

Profile Privacy Settings

Public Profile (Default):

  • Anyone can see your posts, ratings and Mosey Lists

  • Appears in search results

  • Followers can see your activity


Private Profile:

  • Only followers you accept can see your content

  • Appear in general search but not your full profile, just a picture and bio

  • Must approve all follow requests

  • Other users don’t see your Mosey Lists in search


To Change Privacy:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy → Profile Visibility

  2. Toggle between "Public" and "Private"

  3. Changes take effect immediately


Changing Profile Information

  1. Tap profile icon 

  2. Tap "Edit Profile"

  3. Update any information:

    • Profile photo: Tap camera icon → Choose from gallery or take new photo

    • Display name: Tap current name and edit

    • Bio: Add description of your food preferences

  4. Tap "Save Changes"


Profile Photo Requirements:

  • JPEG or PNG format

  • Maximum 10MB file size

  • Minimum 200x200 pixels recommended

  • Square format works best


Account Deletion
Warning: This permanently deletes all your data and cannot be undone.

  1. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account

  2. Review what will be deleted:

    • All posts and ratings

    • Mosey Lists you created

    • Followers and following lists

    • Booking history

    • Account data

  3. Type "DELETE" to confirm

  4. Tap "Permanently Delete Account"

  5. Your account is immediately deleted


Before deleting:

  • Export any data you want to keep

  • Remove yourself from collaborative Mosey Lists

  • Cancel any upcoming reservations

 
Discovering Food & Businesses

Using the Discover Section

Main Search Bar:

  • Search by business name: "Bunsen Burger"

  • Search by cuisine: "Italian restaurants"

  • Search by dish: "fish and chips"

  • Search by location: "Temple Bar restaurants"


Search Results Show:

  • Business name and cuisine type

  • Star rating (Taster and Patron)

  • Price range (€ to €€€€)

  • Distance from your location

  • Photos and key info


Advanced Filtering

Access Filters:

  1. Go to Discover 

  2. Tap filter icon (three lines)

  3. Set your preferences:


Available Filters:

  • Distance: 1km, 5km, 10km, 25km, or custom

  • Price Range: €, €€, €€€, €€€€

  • Cuisine: 50+ options including Irish, Italian, Asian, etc.

  • Occasion: Date night, family-friendly, business meals

  • Features: Dog-friendly, outdoor seating, parking, live music

  • Rating: 3+ stars, 4+ stars, 5 stars only

  • Open Now: Only show currently open businesses


Reservation Filters (if booking):

  • Date and time

  • Number of people

  • Table preferences


Map View

Accessing Map:

  • Tap map icon in Discover section

  • Switch between list and map views


Map Features:

  • Brown pins: Businesses you haven't rated

  • Yellow pins: Businesses you've rated

  • Clustering: Multiple businesses in same area group together

  • Distance circles: Visual distance indicators


Using Map:

  • Pinch to zoom in/out

  • Tap pins to see business preview

  • Tap preview to visit full profile

  • Move map to explore different areas


Menu Search Feature

How It Works: Instead of just searching restaurant names, find specific dishes across all menus.

Examples:

  • Search "carbonara" → See all restaurants serving carbonara

  • Search "gluten free pizza" → Find pizza places with gluten-free options

  • Search "Sunday roast" → Discover where to get traditional Sunday lunch


Menu Search Results Show:

  • Restaurant name

  • Specific dish name and price

  • Dish description

  • Dietary information (if available)

  • Photos of the actual dish


Business Profiles

Profile Sections:

  • Overview: Basic info, ratings, photos

  • Menu: Full menu with prices and descriptions

  • Posts: Recent photos and reviews from customers

  • Info: Opening hours, contact details, features

  • Location: Address, directions, map


What You Can Do:

  • Follow/unfollow business

  • Message the business

  • Add to Mosey Lists

  • Book a table (if available)

  • View events and promotions

  • See customer photos and reviews

 
Posts, Ratings & Reviews

Creating Your First Post

Requirements:

  • Must include a star rating (1-5 stars, including half stars)

  • Must be at a business location (check-in required)


Step-by-Step:

  1. Visit a food business

  2. Open Mosey app

  3. Tap "+" (post button)

  4. Search and select the business

  5. Add your star rating (required)

  6. Upload photos (optional, up to 10)

  7. Write caption (optional, no character limit)

  8. Tap "Post"


Star Rating System

Rating Guidelines:

  • 5 stars: Exceptional - you'd recommend to everyone

  • 4 stars: Very good - exceeded expectations

  • 3 stars: Good - met expectations

  • 2 stars: Below average - some issues

  • 1 star: Poor - would not recommend


Half Stars Available: You can rate 3.5, 4.5, etc. for more precise reviews.

Photo Guidelines

Best Practices:

  • Good lighting (natural light preferred)

  • Show the actual food you received

  • Include restaurant atmosphere if relevant

  • Avoid blurry or dark photos


Technical Requirements:

  • JPEG or PNG format

  • Maximum 10MB per photo

  • Minimum 400x400 pixels

  • Up to 3 photos per post


Photo Upload Issues?

  • Check camera/photo permissions in phone settings

  • Ensure stable internet connection

  • Try uploading one photo at a time

  • Reduce photo file size if very large


Writing Helpful Reviews

Include:

  • Specific dishes you tried

  • What you liked/didn't like

  • Service quality

  • Atmosphere/ambiance

  • Value for money

  • Any special circumstances (busy night, special dietary needs)


Example Good Review: "Had the fish and chips (€16) and it was perfectly cooked - crispy batter, fresh fish. Chips were proper thick cut. Service was friendly despite being busy on Saturday night. Great value and would definitely return for their weekly fish special."

Avoid:

  • Irrelevant personal information

  • Offensive language

  • Complaints about things beyond the restaurant's control

  • Reviewing based on delivery when the restaurant doesn't offer it


Editing and Deleting Posts

Edit Your Rating:

  1. Go to business profile

  2. Find "Your Rating" section

  3. Tap "Edit Rating"

  4. Update star rating, photos, or caption

  5. Tap "Save Changes"


Delete Your Rating:

  1. Go to business profile

  2. Find "Your Rating" section

  3. Tap "Remove Rating"

  4. Confirm deletion

  5. Rating is permanently removed


Or delete it from your profile: removes it from the business page and it is deleted forever.

Note: You can rate as many times as you like.

Taster vs Patron Ratings

Taster Status:

  • Achieved after rating 20+ businesses in the same cuisine

  • Shows as "Taster" badge next to your rating

  • Indicates expertise in that food type

  • Carries more weight in overall business rating


Patron Status:

  • Standard rating for users with less than 20 ratings in that cuisine

  • Still valuable and counted in overall rating

  • Work toward Taster status by rating more businesses


How Cuisines Are Counted:

  • Italian, Chinese, Indian, etc. are separate categories

  • Fast food, fine dining, casual dining are separate

  • Coffee shops and restaurants are separate categories

 
Mosey Lists

Understanding Mosey Lists

What They Are: Digital collections of businesses, like Spotify playlists for food. Create themed lists to organize places you want to try, have enjoyed, or recommend to others.

List Types:

  • Private Lists: Only you can see and edit

  • Public Lists: Anyone can discover and follow

  • Collaborative Lists: Multiple users can add/remove businesses. Collaborative lists can be made public or private.


Creating Your First List

  1. Tap "Lists" tab at bottom

  2. Tap "Create New List"

  3. Enter list information:

    • Name: Be descriptive (e.g., "Best Brunch in Cork")

    • Description: Explain what the list is about

    • Privacy: Choose Public or Private

    • Collaboration: Decide if others can edit

  4. Tap "Create List"

  5. Start adding businesses:

    • Search for businesses to add

    • Or browse and tap "+" on any business


List Privacy Settings

Private Lists:

  • Only visible to you

  • Can't be discovered by others

  • Useful for personal wish lists

  • Can be made public later


Public Lists:

  • Discoverable by all users

  • Appear in list search results

  • Others can follow (but not edit unless collaborative)

  • Great for sharing local knowledge


Collaborative Lists

Setting Up Collaboration:

  1. Create or edit existing list

  2. Toggle "Allow Collaboration"

  3. Tap "Invite Collaborators"

  4. Search for Mosey users to invite

  5. Send invitations


Managing Invitations:

  • Invited users get notifications

  • They must accept to join

  • You can remove collaborators anytime

  • Only list creator can delete the entire list


Collaboration Rules:

  • All collaborators can add/remove businesses

  • All collaborators can edit list description

  • Only creator can change privacy settings

  • Only creator can delete the list

  • Collaborators can remove themselves


Adding Businesses to Lists

From Business Profile:

  1. Visit any business profile

  2. Tap "Add to List" button

  3. Select which list(s) to add to

  4. Business is added immediately


From List View:

  1. Open your list

  2. Tap "Add Businesses"

  3. Search for businesses

  4. Tap "+" next to businesses you want to add

  5. Tap "Done"


Managing Your Lists

Editing Lists:

  1. Open the list

  2. Tap three dots (top right)

  3. Choose "Edit List"

  4. Update name, description, or privacy settings

  5. Save changes


Removing Businesses:

  1. Open the list

  2. Find business to remove

  3. Tap "X" or "Remove"

  4. Confirm removal


Deleting Lists:

  1. Open the list

  2. Tap three dots (top right)

  3. Choose "Delete List"

  4. Confirm deletion (this cannot be undone)


Discovering Others' Lists

Browse Popular Lists:

  • Tap "Mosey Lists" 

  • See trending lists in your area

  • Lists with most followers appear first


Search for Specific Lists:

  • Use search bar in Lists section

  • Search by list name or description

  • Filter by location or cuisine type


Following Lists:

  • Tap "Follow" on any public list

  • Followed lists appear in "My Lists"

  • Get notified when new businesses are added

  • Can unfollow anytime

 

Bookings & Reservations

Making Reservations

Finding Bookable Restaurants:

  1. Use Discover with reservation filters:

    • Set date, time, number of people

    • Only bookable restaurants appear

  2. Or visit restaurant profile → "Reservations" tab


Booking Process:

  1. Select date and time

  2. Choose number of people

  3. Enter your details:

    • Name

    • Phone number

    • Email (usually auto-filled)

    • Special requests (optional)

  4. Review booking details

  5. Tap "Request Booking"

  6. Wait for restaurant confirmation


Important: Your booking is NOT confirmed until the restaurant accepts it and sends confirmation via Mosey chat.

Booking Confirmation Process

What Happens Next:

  1. Restaurant receives your booking request

  2. They review availability and details

  3. They either:

    • Accept and send confirmation

    • Request more information

    • Decline due to availability

  4. You receive their response via Mosey chat

  5. Confirmed bookings appear in your Calendar


Confirmation Timeline:

  • Most restaurants respond within 2-4 hours

  • Some may take up to 24 hours

  • If no response after 24 hours, message the restaurant directly


Managing Your Bookings

Viewing Bookings:

  • Tap "Calendar" to see all upcoming reservations

  • Each booking shows: restaurant, date, time, number of people

  • Tap any booking for full details


Modifying Bookings:

  1. Open booking in Calendar

  2. Tap "Edit Booking"

  3. Update date, time, or number of people

  4. Tap "Request Changes"

  5. Restaurant must approve changes

  6. You'll receive confirmation of approved changes


Cancelling Bookings:

  1. Open booking in Calendar

  2. Tap "Cancel Booking"

  3. Confirm cancellation

  4. Restaurant is immediately notified

  5. Check restaurant's cancellation policy for any fees


Deposits and Payments

When Deposits Are Required:

  • Large groups (usually 6+ people)

  • Special events or peak times

  • High-end restaurants

  • Holiday periods


Deposit Process:

  1. Restaurant requests deposit after accepting booking

  2. They send secure payment link via Mosey chat

  3. You complete payment through link

  4. Booking is secured once payment confirmed

  5. Deposit typically deducted from final bill


Deposit Amounts:

  • Usually €10-20 per person

  • Higher for special events

  • Clearly stated before payment


Special Requests and Large Groups

Special Dietary Requirements:

  • Add details in "Special Requests" field

  • Include specific allergies or dietary needs

  • Restaurant will confirm they can accommodate

  • Follow up with direct message if needed


Large Group Bookings (8+ people):

  • May require longer confirmation time

  • Often require deposits

  • May have set menu options

  • Restaurant may have special terms


Celebration Bookings:

  • Mention occasion in special requests

  • Ask about decoration policies

  • Inquire about special menus

  • Some restaurants offer celebration packages


Troubleshooting Bookings

Restaurant Doesn't Respond:

  1. Wait 24 hours for initial response

  2. Send polite follow-up message

  3. Try calling restaurant directly

  4. Contact support@moseyfoodfinder.com if technical issue


Booking Disappeared:

  • Check Calendar section

  • Ensure you received confirmation message

  • Message restaurant to verify

  • Check internet connection was stable during booking


Can't Find Available Times:

  • Try different dates

  • Check restaurant's opening hours

  • Consider lunch vs dinner times

  • Some restaurants don't take bookings for certain periods


Payment Issues:

  • Ensure card details are correct

  • Check sufficient funds available

  • Try different payment method

  • Contact restaurant if payment link isn't working

Events & Vouchers

Finding Events

Event Discovery:

  • Tap "Events" in main navigation

  • Browse featured events

  • Filter by:

    • Date range

    • Location

    • Event type (tastings, classes, special dinners)

    • Price range


Event Types:

  • Wine tastings

  • Cooking classes

  • Special tasting menus

  • Live music dinners

  • Seasonal celebrations

  • Chef collaborations


Buying Event Tickets

Purchase Process:

  1. Find event you want to attend

  2. Tap "Buy Tickets"

  3. Select ticket type (if multiple options)

  4. Choose quantity

  5. Review total cost

  6. Enter payment information

  7. Complete purchase

  8. Receive confirmation and ticket code


Ticket Information Includes:

  • Event name and date

  • Location and time

  • Ticket type

  • Unique redemption code

  • Business Terms and conditions


Tickets can be transferred to other users and display under “Tickets”.

Event Attendance

On Event Day:

  1. Arrive at specified time

  2. Show your ticket code to staff

  3. Staff will verify and mark as used

  4. Enjoy your experience!


Important:

  • Bring phone with ticket code

  • Arrive on time (some events can't accommodate late arrivals)

  • Check if event has specific requirements (dress code, age restrictions)

  • Always check terms of event
     

Purchasing Vouchers

Voucher Types:

  • Full Value Vouchers: Pay €50, get €50 to spend

  • Discount Vouchers: Pay €40, get €50 to spend (20% savings)

  • Gift Vouchers: Purchase for someone else


Purchase Process:

  1. Visit restaurant profile

  2. Tap "Vouchers" section

  3. Choose voucher type and amount

  4. Select if it's a gift (enter recipient details)

  5. Complete payment

  6. Receive voucher code immediately


Using Vouchers

Redemption Process:

  1. Visit the restaurant

  2. Order and enjoy your meal

  3. When paying, show voucher code to staff

  4. Staff deducts voucher value from bill

  5. Pay any remaining balance


Voucher Rules:

  • Check expiry date (usually 6-12 months)

  • Some vouchers have minimum spend requirements

  • Can't be combined with other offers (unless stated)

  • Non-refundable once purchased

  • Check terms for alcohol inclusions


Gifting Vouchers and Tickets

Sending Gifts:

  1. During purchase, toggle "This is a gift"

  2. Enter recipient's details:

    • Name

    • Email or phone number

    • Personal message (optional)

  3. Complete purchase

  4. Recipient receives gift notification

  5. They must accept gift to receive code


Gift Notifications:

  • Sent via email and Mosey app

  • Include your name as sender

  • Contain redemption instructions

  • Recipients have 30 days to accept gifts


Refunds and Changes

Event Refunds:

  • Contact restaurant directly (not Mosey)

  • Refund policies vary by venue

  • Some events are non-refundable

  • Check terms before purchasing


Voucher Refunds:

  • Generally non-refundable once purchased

  • Contact restaurant for exceptional circumstances

  • Gift vouchers can't be refunded by sender once sent


Transferring Tickets/Vouchers:

  • Contact restaurant to ask about transfers

  • Some venues may allow name changes

  • May incur administrative fees

 
Events & Promotions

Understanding Promotions

What Are Promotions: Ongoing deals and discounts offered by restaurants, different from one-time events.

Promotion Types:

  • Percentage discounts (20% off lunch)

  • Buy-one-get-one offers

  • Set price deals (€15 lunch menu)

  • Loyalty cards (buy 10 coffees, get 1 free)

  • Student discounts

  • Early bird specials


Finding Promotions

Promotions Page:

  • Tap "Promotions" in main navigation

  • See all current offers from nearby restaurants

  • Filter by:

    • Distance

    • Discount percentage

    • Promotion type

    • Cuisine


From Restaurant Profiles:

  • Check "Promotions" section on business profiles

  • See current offers and terms

  • Some promotions are exclusive to followers


Using Promotions

Redemption Process:

  1. Find promotion you want to use

  2. Tap "Get Promotion"

  3. Receive unique promotion code

  4. Visit restaurant

  5. Show code to staff when ordering

  6. Discount applied to your bill


Promotion Terms:

  • Check validity dates

  • Note any restrictions (lunch only, weekdays only, etc.)

  • Minimum spend requirements

  • Exclusions (alcohol, specials, etc.)

  • Must read all terms


Saving Promotions

For Later Use:

  • Tap "Save" on any promotion

  • Access saved promotions in "My Promotions"

  • Easy access when you're ready to use

 
Messaging & Communication

Messaging Restaurants

When to Message:

  • Ask about menu items or ingredients

  • Inquire about booking availability

  • Request special accommodations

  • Confirm event or voucher details

  • Report issues with orders

  • Any questions


Messaging Process:

  1. Go to restaurant profile

  2. Tap "Message" button

  3. Type your message

  4. Tap send arrow

  5. Restaurant receives notification

  6. They respond when available


Message Guidelines:

  • Include relevant details (booking reference, dates, etc.)

  • Allow reasonable response time (24-48 hours)


Chat Features

Message History:

  • All conversations saved in chat section

  • Access via "Chat" tab

  • Organised by restaurant

  • Includes booking confirmations


Message Status:

  • Sent: Message delivered to restaurant

  • Read: Restaurant has opened message


Business Response Times:

  • Restaurant response times vary to the business

  • Peak periods may cause delays

  • For urgent matters, try calling restaurant directly


Booking Confirmations via Chat

How It Works:

  • All booking confirmations sent via Mosey chat

  • Creates permanent record of reservation

  • Includes all booking details

  • Easy to reference when arriving


Confirmation Includes:

  • Restaurant name and address

  • Date and time

  • Number of people

  • Booking reference

  • Special requests noted

  • Cancellation policy


Privacy and Safety

Restaurant Contact Rules:

  • Restaurants cannot message you first (except booking confirmations)

  • You initiate all conversations

  • No unsolicited promotional messages

  • Report inappropriate messages to support


Blocking Communications:

  1. Open chat with restaurant

  2. Tap restaurant name at top

  3. Select "Block Messages"

  4. Confirm blocking

  5. No more messages from that restaurant

Job Discovery

Finding Food Industry Jobs:

  • Tap "Jobs" in main navigation

  • Browse all available positions

  • Filter by:

    • Location (distance from you)

    • Role type (kitchen, front of house, management)

    • Employment type (full-time, part-time, casual)

    • Experience level (entry, experienced, management)

    • Salary range


Job Types Available:

  • Kitchen roles: Chef, line cook, kitchen assistant

  • Front of house: Server, host, bartender

CV Tips:

  • Include relevant food service experience

  • List any certifications (food safety, alcohol service)

  • Mention language skills if relevant

  • Include availability (days/hours you can work)

  • Keep to 2 pages maximum


Application Tracking

My Applications Section:

  • View all jobs you've applied for

  • See application status:

    • Submitted: Application received

    • Under Review: Employer reviewing

    • Interview: Employer wants to interview

    • Offered: Job offer received

    • Unsuccessful: Application unsuccessful

    • Withdrawn: You withdrew application


Application Updates:

  • Receive notifications when status changes

  • Dress appropriately for food service

  • Bring physical copy of CV

  • Arrive 10 minutes early


Job Alerts and Notifications

Setting Up Alerts:

  1. Go to Jobs → Settings

  2. Set your preferences:

    • Preferred locations

    • Role types interested in

    • Salary requirements

    • Available work days

  3. Enable notifications

  4. Receive alerts when matching jobs are posted


Notification Types:

Privacy Controls

Profile Visibility:

  • Public: Anyone can find and view your profile

  • Private: Only approved followers see your content
