Our Mosey Story

Built Specifically for Food

Unlike generic platforms competing for attention with entertainment content, Mosey focuses exclusively on food discovery. Users can search by actual menu items ("fish and chips in Cork"), filter by specific needs (dog-friendly with parking), and discover what's currently trending. We support Irish independent businesses alongside established venues, recognising that great food comes from all business types.

Our dual rating system splits feedback into "Taster" (someone experienced with that cuisine) and "Patron" (regular diner), providing more trustworthy recommendations. We verify businesses and actively remove fake reviews, maintaining platform integrity.

The Free Choice

When determining pricing, we consistently reached the same conclusion: we can make money whilst helping businesses make money. We understood the reality facing food business owners – long hours, operational cost increases, staffing challenges, and reduced margins.

We asked ourselves: "How do we ensure we aren't part of the problem facing them? How do we make sure Mosey helps rather than hinders?"

Whether it's a baker selling at a Sunday market once a month, or someone who's saved for months to open a restaurant, every food business deserves digital presence without expensive overheads. That's why we made our core platform completely free.

Building with the Community

Rather than develop in isolation, we worked directly with Ireland's food community. We reached out to brilliant local business owners at Kanum Thai, Five Good Things, and new businesses like Rustic Pizza and Taboo Burger. Their insights helped to shape our features, ensuring Mosey solved real problems rather than creating new ones.

"Once we had sector interest and excitement for Mosey, we kept building to launch as soon as possible," Kennedy explained. "These business owners didn't want another expensive platform – they wanted something that actually helped them connect with customers, and we wanted to deliver it at a price point that helped their viability."

Our Mission

Mosey was created to connect hungry customers to food businesses the moment they're deciding where they want to eat. We strive to make running a food business easier in a digital world, with less of a technical burden on owners and staff. We understand that trading is tough and costs have increased across the board which is why we have designed Mosey to be completely free for business owners to use.

All of our paid options are fully flexible and optional, allowing you to give your business a boost when you can, and scale back when you need to. We built every feature around two questions: 'Would this actually help a business having a tough week?' and 'Would this benefit a customer searching for food?' Every 'yes' gets actioned, every 'no' gets left or enhanced. The result is Mosey: built for food.

Growing Thoughtfully

Launching across Ireland in 2025, Mosey plans expansion into UK markets followed by broader European coverage. This measured approach ensures each market receives dedicated attention whilst building comprehensive food discovery infrastructure.

"We're not just creating another app," Kennedy noted. "We're building the infrastructure that helps Ireland's food culture thrive digitally whilst keeping the personal, community-focused experience that makes it special."

The Result

What started as frustration with outdated food discovery has become Ireland's most comprehensive platform for connecting food lovers with great experiences. Built by people who understand both hospitality challenges and customer needs, Mosey represents what happens when technology serves food culture rather than competing with it.

Every feature exists because it helps either a business having a tough week or a customer searching for food. That's our standard, and it's why Mosey works.

Building Ireland's Most Comprehensive Food Discovery Platform

Mosey began in Dublin, Ireland, 2022 with a simple observation: Ireland's incredible food scene was hidden behind outdated technology, expensive digital barriers, and platforms that didn't understand what hungry customers actually wanted. Founded by a team who understood both the hospitality industry's challenges and food lovers' frustrations, Mosey set out to create something different – a platform built specifically for food that works for everyone.

The Problem We Saw

Ireland's food culture had evolved dramatically. From traditional pubs to innovative food trucks, from family-run cafés to Michelin-starred restaurants, the diversity was extraordinary. But finding these experiences remained difficult for customers. Customers hunted across multiple apps for current promotions, struggled to find venues suitable for celebrations, and relied on outdated information or for food news to pop up in their social media. Meanwhile, food businesses spent thousands maintaining websites, competing for social media attention with poor returns, and paying hefty commissions just to be discovered.

"We realised food businesses were trapped in expensive digital cycles whilst customers couldn't find what they were actually looking for," said Cian Kennedy, Founder and CEO. "A Michelin list is great, but what about when you want a hearty meal somewhere rural? Or a food truck at the beach? The technology available never matched what people actually needed."

For Users

  • Mosey is built specifically for food which means we can be precise. You can search by actual menu items ("fish and chips in Cork"), filter by certain needs (dog-friendly with parking), and see what businesses are trending. Plus, we focus on supporting Irish independent businesses, not just chain restaurants.

  • Mosey is completely free for food lovers. We make money by helping restaurants earn more revenue through vouchers, events, and promotions - not by charging you subscription fees or showing you ads disguised as recommendations. When restaurants succeed, we succeed, so we're focused on helping you discover great places.

  • Soon it can be. We’re launching in Ireland first then expanding. Keep an eye out on our social media or sign up to our newsletter to hear about the new regions we’re going to.

  • Yes - our rating system is designed to be more trustworthy than other platforms. We split ratings into "Taster" (someone who's had that cuisine 20+ times) and "Patron" (regular diner) so you know if the reviewer actually knows good Italian food or just happened to eat pizza once. Plus, we verify all businesses and actively remove fake reviews.

  • Most likely! We've already created profiles for 7,000+ Irish food businesses using publicly available information, from Dublin's best coffee shops to Cork's hidden gems. Businesses can claim and update their profiles to add menus, photos, and special offers - but you can discover and rate them even if they haven't claimed their profile yet.
