What is a gift voucher for a place to eat?
A voucher is credit for one particular place. You choose the place and the amount, and the person you send it to spends it there, on whatever they fancy: a long lunch, a round of coffees, a birthday dinner.
It is a gift that is easy to get right. You do not have to guess what someone wants, and they get a reason to try somewhere you think they will love. You can buy one for yourself too, to spend over several visits.
How do I send a gift voucher?
Choose a place and an amount
Open a place that sells vouchers, or browse Vouchers, and pick how much.
Send it to yourself or a friend
Add a message, an occasion and a date if you want it to arrive later.
They spend it over several visits
The code or QR goes to the till, and the balance shows what is left.
How do I send a voucher to someone?
Choose as a gift, then add who it is for. You can use their Mosey username, their email address, or both.
If they are not on Mosey yet, they get an email and find the gift waiting when they sign up. You do not need their phone number.
Pick an occasion and write a message
Choose from birthday, thank you, congratulations, anniversary, get well and more, and add a few words of your own.
Send it now or on the day
Send it as soon as you pay, or pick a date, so a birthday voucher arrives on the birthday. You can schedule it up to a year ahead.
Change your mind about who it is for
Until a gift is sent, you can change who it is for. Once it has been delivered, it is theirs.
How does a voucher work at the till?
The voucher has a code and a QR code. Show either to staff, and they take what you want to spend off the balance. Staff can scan the QR instead of typing the code.
You can spend part of it and keep the rest. The app shows the original amount, what is left, when it was bought and every time it has been used. Each voucher also shows its expiry date, or that it has none.
Vouchers also work when you pay with Mosey, are applied at checkout on Order Ahead, and can go towards a booking deposit.
What about fees, bonus credit and refunds?
A small processing fee is added when you pay, and the app works out your total before you confirm. Some places add bonus credit, such as paying one amount for a little more to spend. When there is a bonus, the app shows what you pay and what you get, and the date the bonus ends.
Changed your mind? You can cancel and get your money back within fourteen days, as long as the voucher is unused. If you want to use it straight away, you can tick a box to give up that right, and you can still use the voucher either way.
Later on, you can ask the place for a refund of what is left. The place reviews the request, and the processing fee you paid at the start is not refunded.
What else can I do with a voucher?
A voucher you hold can be passed on to a friend by username or email, which is handy if your plans change. Once you do, they can spend it and you cannot, and you can no longer cancel it for a refund.
Some vouchers carry an Earns loyalty tag. Loyalty is earned when the voucher is spent, not when you buy it, and if you gave it as a gift, the person you sent it to earns the rewards.
Who are vouchers for?
They are for anyone who needs a present in a hurry, a thank-you that means something or a treat for a friend who has had a rough week. They suit teams and families as well: one voucher at the place everyone loves beats a gift nobody asked for.
They are also a way to back a place you want to see do well. The money goes to the place, and you can see who sells vouchers near you.
Why is a voucher better than a generic gift card?

What if my friend is not on Mosey?
Add their email address. They get an email and find the gift when they sign up for Mosey.
Can I cancel a voucher after buying it?
You can cancel and get your money back within fourteen days if the voucher is unused. If you choose to use it straight away, you give up that right.
Can I use part of a voucher?
Yes. A voucher works across several visits, and the remaining amount and usage history are shown in the app.
Do I earn loyalty when I buy a voucher?

Within fourteen days of buying, you can cancel an unused one for your money back. After that, you can ask the place, which reviews the request. The processing fee is not refunded.
