Every tool is optional.
How do I fill the quiet hours without giving away the margin?
Tuesday lunch and Thursday at four tell the same story: staff on, ovens warm, nobody in. A blanket discount on a post fills the room once and teaches your regulars to wait for the next one.
What works is a deal with edges. A set day, a set window, a short list of dishes, a cap on how many and a limit per person. Handing it out by message, with a code your staff have to remember, is where it goes wrong.
Mosey gives you two tools with the edges built in. A promotion is a deal guests buy or claim and then redeem. Deal Hours is a price rule that applies by itself inside a window, with nothing to redeem.
How do promotions and Deal Hours work on Mosey?
Build a promotion
Open Promotions under Outreach and choose the kind: a ticket you sell, a bundle of items at one price, a percentage off, an amount off or a free item. Add the dates, how many are available, a limit per person, the days and hours it can be used and any blackout dates.
Or set a Deal Hour
Open Off-peak deals, name the rule and pick the days and the time window. Choose the discount: a percentage, an amount off, buy one get one, or a set price. Apply it to the whole menu or to named dishes, and to collection, delivery, in store or any mix of the three.
Publish and read the results
Guests buy or claim a promotion in the app and get a ticket you redeem at the till or the Counter. A Deal Hour needs no code: the discount appears at checkout while the window is open. Promotions shows redemptions and results, and a Deal Hour can be paused or switched back on at any time.
What do my guests see?
A deal they can act on
A promotion appears on your page and in the app with its dates, what is included and its price. A guest buys it or claims it, and the ticket is in their app straight away, ready to show at your till.
Off-Peak, on now
When a Deal Hour is live, your menu shows a Deal on now banner with the weekly times beside it, so a guest can plan a visit. Menu prices stay at full price and the discount comes off at checkout. An Off-Peak screen lists the businesses near a guest with a deal on right now.
Rules said plainly
A ticket can only be used on the days and in the hours you set, and a limit per person stops one customer taking the lot. Nobody argues at the counter about a deal that ended an hour ago.
A promotion has its edges built in: dates, numbers, hours and a limit per person. A Deal Hour has no code to leak, because the price only drops inside the window.
How do I run my first deal?
- Claim your business free and, for a promotion guests pay for, connect Stripe in Account and billing so the money reaches you.
- Find your quiet window in your own numbers: the days and hours where you have staff on and few covers.
- For a window, start with a Deal Hour on a short list of dishes with a healthy margin. Pick a discount you can live with, not the biggest one allowed.
- For a named deal, build a promotion with a cap on numbers and a limit per person, and set the days and hours it can be used.
- Tell people. After you create a promotion, Mosey offers to notify followers and nearby guests who agreed to hear from you.
- Give it two weeks, then compare covers and takings in that window with the same window before. Change the price, not the idea.
What do promotions and Deal Hours cost on Mosey?
Deal Hours has no charge of its own, so the usual commission on the order applies: 1.5% on collection and 6% on delivery, and the till fee of 0.5%, capped at €149 a month, in store. A promotion guests buy costs 4.5% of what they pay, with VAT on Mosey's fee, and the guest pays the flat processing fee shown below. A free promotion has no sale, so no promotion fee.

How is this different from a discount code or a coupon site?
A coupon site puts your discount in front of bargain hunters and gives you no say over who turns up. A promotion on Mosey reaches people already choosing where to eat by dish and neighbourhood, and every ticket is tied to a customer record you can see.
A discount code on your own website needs somebody to remember it. A Deal Hour needs nobody: the price drops inside the window, online and at the till, and returns when the window closes.
Deals also sit in a fixed order with the rest of Mosey. A Deal Hour comes off first, then a membership benefit, a loyalty reward, a promotion ticket and a voucher, each worked out on what the one before left, so the total is the same every time.
Who are promotions and Deal Hours right for?
A café with a dead mid-afternoon, a restaurant with an empty Tuesday, a bar before the evening rush, a takeaway that wants more collection orders at four o'clock. Deal Hours suits any business that sells from a menu and knows its quiet window. A promotion suits a business with something specific to sell, such as a set lunch, a coffee and cake bundle or a birthday offer. A business that is full every service can leave both off.

Promotion and Deal Hours questions from owners
What is the difference between a promotion and Deal Hours?
A promotion is a deal a guest buys or claims and redeems with a ticket. Deal Hours is a price rule that applies by itself inside a time window, with nothing to buy or redeem.
What does Mosey charge?
Deal Hours has no charge of its own, so the usual commission on the order applies. A promotion guests buy carries Mosey's published promotion rate and a free promotion carries none. The pricing page shows every figure.
Who can create promotions and Deal Hours?
People with the Marketing, promotions & events permission, which owners and managers have by default.
Can I limit a promotion?
Yes. Set how many are available, a limit per person, the days and hours it can be used, blackout dates and the dates it runs. You can schedule when it goes live and make it for members only.
What kinds of Deal Hours can I set?
A percentage off, an amount off, buy one get one, or a set price. Buy one get one and set price need named dishes, and a percentage deal goes up to half off. You can have up to ten active rules at once, each with its own days, window and channels.
Does a Deal Hour work at the till and online?
Yes. Choose collection, delivery, in store or any mix. In store the deal is applied to each line at the till, with or without a customer attached.
Can I stop a promotion early?
Yes. Cancelling shows how many people hold unused tickets and what will be refunded before you confirm. Tickets already used are kept.
Can a Deal Hour run across midnight?
No. Split a late window into two rules, one for each side of midnight.
