Events and tickets

Sell event tickets for tasting nights, supper clubs and live evenings

Name the night, set a capacity and ticket types, and publish. Guests buy in the app, you check them in at the door, and a sold-out night can keep a waitlist.

How do I fill a quiet night with a ticketed event?

A Tuesday with nothing on is a fixed cost with no income. A tasting night, a supper club or a guest chef can turn it into your busiest evening, but only if people commit in advance. A free event with a vague headcount means you cater for forty and thirty turn up, or the other way round.

Selling tickets by message, taking transfers and ticking names off on paper is a second job. Somebody pays and forgets, somebody brings a friend, and the person at the door does not know who has paid.

Mosey sells the ticket, holds the capacity and checks people in at the door with a scan. You know your numbers before you buy the food, and the money is in your account before the night.

How do ticketed events work on Mosey?

  1. Create the night

Open Events under Outreach, name the night, set a date and a capacity, add your ticket types and publish. You can set different ticket types, for example with and without wine pairing.

  2. Guests buy in the app

Guests buy tickets in the Mosey app and pay at once. If the event sells out, they can join a waitlist. A comp or a door sale is entered as a named ticket rather than a payment, so your headcount stays true.

  3. Check people in at the door

Scan a ticket from the Events page or at the Counter. A scan is checked against the ticket's signature and a party is marked in by the same rule everywhere. A ticket can also have a door tag for self check-in, if you switch it on.

What do my guests see?

A page for the night

Your event appears on your page and in the app with its date, what is included and the ticket types. A guest picks a ticket and pays, and the ticket is in their app straight away.

A waitlist if it sells out

A guest who misses out can join a waitlist rather than leaving. If you change the date or the location, the form asks whether to tell ticket holders, and you decide.

A refund if you cancel

If you cancel the night, every confirmed ticket is refunded and the holders are told. That is why an event that has sold a ticket is never deleted, only cancelled or hidden.

Ticket sales go through your own Stripe account. Mosey's fee on a ticket is published, and you know your headcount before you order the food.

How do I run my first ticketed event?

  1. Claim your business free and connect Stripe in Account and billing so ticket payments can reach you.
  2. Pick an idea you can deliver well: a tasting menu, a guest chef, a supper club or a live evening. Do the sums first, using the ticketed event guide.
  3. Open Events, set the date and capacity, add ticket types and publish with a clear description of what is included.
  4. Give notice. Tell your followers and regulars and put the link on your counter card and website, then check sales a week out.
  5. On the night, scan tickets from the Events page or the Counter. Add door sales and comps as named tickets.
  6. Afterwards, compare covers and takings with a normal night, and decide whether to run it again.

What does selling event tickets cost on Mosey?

There is no subscription for events. When a ticket is sold, Mosey takes 4% of the ticket price and Stripe's card fee is passed through at cost. You pay nothing on a night that sells nothing.

How is this different from a ticketing website or taking bookings?

A general ticketing website takes its own fee, shows your event beside everyone else's and does not know your menu, your table plan or your regulars. Mosey sells the ticket inside the app where guests already see your page, with your ratings around it.

A booking reserves a table, usually without payment. A ticket is a paid seat at a specific event with its own capacity, which is what you want when the food is bought and prepared for a set number.

Events also work with the rest of the tools. A ticket from a company scans like any other, and giving away a comp ticket needs the Marketing, promotions & events permission because it gives a seat away.

Who are event tickets right for?

Restaurants and wine bars running tasting menus and pairing dinners. Cafés with a monthly supper club or a coffee cupping. Bars with live music or quiz nights that want a capped, paid list. A food truck or a bakery running a one-off class or a pop-up evening. A business that never opens for special nights can leave this off.

A percentage of the ticket price, shown on the pricing page, plus Stripe's card fee at cost. There is no subscription for events.

  • What happens if I cancel an event?

Every confirmed ticket is refunded and holders are notified. An event that has sold tickets cannot be deleted, so you cancel or hide it instead.

  • Can I sell tickets at the door?

Yes. Add a door sale or a comp as a named ticket rather than a payment, so your headcount stays accurate.

  • What if the event sells out?

Guests can join a waitlist rather than leaving.

  • What if I change the date or location?

The form asks whether to tell ticket holders, and you decide.
