Memberships
Restaurant and café memberships that bring in monthly income
Sell a mug club, a coffee pass or a supper club as a monthly or yearly subscription. Start from a template, check the margin before it goes live and let members join and cancel online.

How do I get regulars to pay me every month?
Tuesday is dead and Saturday you are turning people away. Your best customers come in when they feel like it, and the income swings with the weather. A discount does not fix that: it trains people to wait for the next one.
A membership does. A guest pays a fixed amount each month for something they will use, such as a coffee a day or a free dessert on Fridays, and you get predictable income and a reason for them to choose you over the business down the road.
The risk is a perk that costs more than the fee brings in. Mosey checks the sums before you publish, so a generous idea does not quietly lose you money.
How do memberships work on Mosey?
Start from a template
Open Memberships under Loyalty and pick a template: a mug club, a coffee pass, a supper club, a founding member, a credit pass or a family plan. Each fills in sensible perks and billing terms, and you can change every line.
Run the margin check
Before it goes live, the dashboard tests the membership against a typical member who visits 20 times a month and whose goods cost 40 per cent of what they are worth. If the perks would cost more than the fee, it tells you what to change.
Publish and share your link
Each membership has a join page and a manage page on the web, so a guest can join without the app and cancel without writing to you. Put the link on your counter card, your Instagram bio and your receipts.
What do my members see?
A clear offer
A join page showing the perks in the order a guest cares about them, the price and how billing works. Members pay through your own Stripe account.
Perks they can use
Members show their membership in the app and staff redeem perks at the till or the Counter. A member's discount applies to the bill at the till, including when they pay with Mosey Pay.
Control over their own plan
A guest who cancels keeps the perks to the end of what they have paid for. You can send members up to four letters and one push notification a month at no charge, and a weekly digest keeps them informed without extra work. Only members who agreed to hear from you are included.
A founding drop sells a limited number of early memberships at a founding price. A guest's spot is held for ten minutes during checkout, and a sold-out drop can open a waiting list.
How do I launch a membership in a week?
- Claim your business free and connect Stripe in Account and billing, because members pay through your own account.
- Open Memberships under Loyalty and pick the template closest to what you sell. A coffee pass is easy to explain at the till.
- Name it plainly and list the perks in the order a guest cares about them. Cap anything generous, such as one free coffee a day.
- Run the margin check and read any warning as a prompt to change the price or limit a perk before you publish.
- Decide on a founding drop if you want to fund a launch, with a limited number of memberships at a founding price.
- Publish, share the join link everywhere regulars look, and tell your best customers in person for the first fortnight.
What do memberships cost on Mosey?
There is no monthly fee for memberships. Mosey takes 8% of the subscription fee when a member pays, and Stripe's card fee is passed through at cost. You pay nothing until a member pays you.

How is this different from a loyalty card or a discount?
A loyalty card rewards what a guest has already spent. A membership is paid first, so the guest commits before they visit, and you have the money in the bank. The two work together: loyalty is free, and a membership is the paid version for your best regulars.
A discount lowers your price for everyone who asks. A membership gives a defined perk to people who have paid for it, with a limit you set and a margin you have checked.
The members list and the profitability card show who joined, what they used and what each is worth after perks. If a perk costs more than it earns, you change it, and members rarely complain when you tighten a limit before it has been used.
Who are memberships right for?
Cafés and coffee shops with a regular crowd are the natural fit for a coffee pass or a mug club. A restaurant or wine bar can run a supper club with a monthly dinner. A bakery can sell a weekly loaf. A bar with a loyal local crowd can sell a founding membership to fund a refit. A food truck with a fixed weekly pitch can sell a lunch pass for that day.

Membership questions from owners
What does Mosey charge on memberships?
A percentage of the subscription fee, shown on the pricing page, and no monthly fee for the feature. You pay only when a member pays you.
Can members join without the Mosey app?
Yes. Each membership has a web join page and a manage page, so a guest can join and cancel online using your link.
What does the margin check test?
It tests the membership against a typical member who visits 20 times a month and whose goods cost 40 per cent of their value, and warns you if the perks would cost more than the fee brings in.
How many messages can I send members?
Up to four letters and one push notification a month are free. Anything beyond that, or any reach to non-members, is a paid campaign.
What happens when a member cancels?
They keep their perks to the end of the period they have paid for. They can cancel online from the manage page without contacting you.
What is a founding drop?
A limited number of early memberships at a founding price. A spot is held for ten minutes while a guest checks out, and if it sells out guests can join a waiting list.
Who can run memberships on my team?
People with the manage memberships permission, which owners and managers have by default. Staff can redeem perks at the till but cannot edit the membership unless an owner allows it.
