Mosey Pay
Take card payments without a terminal, from a customer's phone
A guest keeps a saved card in the Mosey app. You type the amount, they confirm on their phone, and the money goes to your own Stripe account. No reader to buy, charge or lose.
Free to claim
Every tool is optional.
Do I really need a card terminal at the counter?
A card terminal is a monthly rental, a roll of paper and a thing that needs charging. At a market stall, a food truck or a busy counter, it is also a queue: one reader, one customer at a time, and a signal that drops just when the line is longest.
A terminal also keeps your customer anonymous. You see a card number you cannot use for anything, and you learn nothing about who came in.
Mosey Pay takes the payment from the phone the customer already holds. There is nothing to buy, a QR code works as well as a code read aloud, and the customer is a Mosey customer you can reward.
How does Mosey Pay work?
Ask for a code or show a QR
Every Mosey user has a permanent code in the Pay tab of the app. Open Mosey Pay in your sidebar and type it in with the bill, or choose the QR option and type only the amount, and the screen shows a large code.
The guest confirms on their phone
With a code, their phone gets a request and they confirm it, which is two actions. With a QR code they scan it in the app and confirm, which is three. The code is signed, works for five minutes and can be used once.
The payment is recorded
The money goes to your own Stripe account and the payment is stamped with the signed-in person who took it. Staff can add a tip when they enter the amount, and the guest can change the tip on the confirm screen.
What do my customers see when they pay with Mosey Pay?
A request they understand
They see who is asking, the bill and any tip, and confirm. Before a request is sent, your screen shows their first name and the last two digits of their card, so you know you are charging the right person.
Privacy built in
If a code matches nobody, or the guest has no usable card, the answer is the same message every time. That stops anyone using your till to find out who is on Mosey.
Their perks applied
A member's discount applies to the bill, never to the tip, so it never reduces what your staff receive. A voucher that covers the whole bill settles it with no card charge.
Mosey takes nothing from tips, and the fee is worked out on the bill, not on the total charged, so a generous tip never raises it.
How do I start taking Mosey Pay today?
- Claim your business free and connect your Stripe account in Account and billing. A payout account must be verified before you can take payments.
- Make sure the people who take payments have the Take payments (Mosey Pay) permission. Owners, managers and staff have it by default.
- Open Mosey Pay in the sidebar and take a small test payment from your own phone, using your own code, then refund it.
- Decide whether staff add a tip when they type the amount, or leave it for the guest to add on the confirm screen.
- Put a small sign at the counter saying you take Mosey Pay, so regulars with the app know to ask.
- If you also sell tables and tabs, use Mosey Pay as a payment method inside the till so the bill is itemised.
What does Mosey Pay cost?
There is no monthly fee and no hardware to buy. Mosey takes 0.5% plus VAT on the bill, capped at €149 a month before VAT, and Stripe's own card fee is passed through at cost. The cap is shared with the till, so using both costs no more than using one. Tips carry no Mosey fee.

How is this different from a card terminal or a payment link?
A terminal is hardware you rent and carry. Mosey Pay needs only the screen you already have, and the customer's own phone does the rest.
A payment link is a loose web address that nobody can match to a person. Mosey Pay ties each payment to a member of staff and to a Mosey customer, so your takings by team member and your loyalty visits stay accurate.
A guest without the app can still pay in cash or on your own reader, and you record that on the till as normal. Refunds from the dashboard go back to the guest's saved card, with the issue refunds permission.
Who is Mosey Pay right for?
Food trucks, market stalls and pop-ups, where a reader is one more thing to carry. Cafés and bakeries with a counter and a queue. Bars where a customer wants to settle a tab without waiting for a terminal. A restaurant that already runs the till can use it as one of its payment methods. It suits any business whose regulars are likely to have the Mosey app.

Mosey Pay questions from owners
Does the guest need the Mosey app?
Yes, with a saved card. A guest without it can pay in cash or on your own card reader, and you can record that on the till as normal.
How long does a Mosey Pay request last?
A QR code works for five minutes and can be used once. A request sent to a guest's phone also expires if it is not confirmed, so you can cancel and start again without charging twice.
Does Mosey take a cut of tips?
No. Mosey takes no commission on tips, and the fee is worked out on the bill rather than the total, so a tip never raises it.
Who can take a Mosey Pay payment?
People with the Take payments (Mosey Pay) permission, which owners, managers and staff have by default. A named member of staff can have it taken away on the Team page.
Where does the money go?
To your own Stripe account, which you connect in Account and billing. Mosey does not hold your takings.
Can I refund a Mosey Pay payment?
Yes, from the dashboard, with the issue refunds permission. The refund goes back to the guest's saved card.
Can I see who took each payment?
Yes. Each payment is stamped with the signed-in person who entered it, and if you use a staff PIN it identifies who rang the sale.
