What Mosey does

Split the bill with friends and pay only for what you ordered

Start a group order, add what you want and pay your own share in the app. No sums, no chasing, and nobody left covering the table.

How does splitting the bill work on Mosey?

Mosey has two ways to split. For food you order through the app, you start a group order and everyone pays their own share by card. For a table you book, you can split the deposit between the people coming.

Either way the place is paid, the organiser is not out of pocket and you can see who has paid.

How do I split a group order?

  1. Start a group order

Open a place that takes orders ahead, build a basket and invite friends from the app. They get a notification to join.

  2. Everyone adds their own

Each person adds what they want, so every dish has a name beside it. You can all see the basket as it grows.

  3. Pay your own share

The organiser starts the split and each person pays their share by card in the app. When every share is paid, the order goes to the place.

What counts towards my share?

Your share is based on the items you added to the basket. On top of that you pay your part of the delivery fee, any booking fee and tax, in proportion to what you ordered.

Discounts work the same way. The basket is priced once, with any deal, voucher, membership benefit or reward applied, and the saving is shared so everyone gets the same percentage off their own items.

What happens once the split has started?

When the organiser starts the split, the basket is locked so nobody can change an item while people are paying. Each person sees their own share and a button to pay it.

  • The organiser stays in charge and can cancel the split.
  • Anyone who has paid is refunded if it is cancelled.
  • The order is only placed when every share is paid.

Can I split the deposit when I book a table?

Yes. When a booking asks for a deposit, the organiser saves a card first and then adds the friends who are coming. Each friend gets a share to pay in the app.

If a share is still unpaid twelve hours before the booking, it is charged to the organiser's saved card, so the place is not left short. The friends you add need to be on Mosey.

What about rewards and my order history?

Each person earns loyalty on their own share of a group order. Everyone who paid can see the finished order in their orders list, so you do not need a screenshot to remember who had what.

Why split the bill on Mosey?

Because the money is settled before the food is cooked. Nobody fronts the whole bill and waits to be paid back, and nobody pays for a dish they did not order.

  • Nobody fronts the bill and waits to be paid back.
  • You pay for what you ordered, with the same saving as everyone else.
  • Everything lives in the app, so there is nothing to remember afterwards.

Questions about splitting the bill

  • How is my share worked out?

From what you ordered, plus your part of any delivery fee, booking fee and tax. A deal, voucher or reward is shared at the same percentage, so everyone gets the same saving on their own items.

  • What if a friend does not pay?

The order is not placed until every share is paid. If it falls through, the organiser can cancel the split, and anyone who has already paid is refunded.

  • Can I split a delivery order?

Yes. The delivery fee is shared between everyone along with the items, and the order arrives as one delivery.

  • Can I split the deposit on a table booking?

Yes. Add the friends who are coming and each gets a share of the deposit to pay in the app. A share still unpaid twelve hours before the booking is charged to the card the organiser saved, so the table stays safe.

  • Do I earn loyalty rewards on my share?

Yes. On a group order, each person earns on their own share, not only the person who started it.

  • Do my friends need the app?

Yes. Shares are paid in the Mosey app, and friends you invite get a notification to join.

  • What about splitting a bill at the table?

Ask at the till. Places that use the Mosey till can split a table's bill equally or by item, and each person pays their share any way they like.
