Pop-ups and food trucks

Pop-up and food truck listings: post where you are trading and be found there

A truck or stall has no fixed address, so a pin on a map is no use. On Mosey you post dated appearances, the map pin follows you while you are trading, and followers are told when you set up.

How do customers find a business that moves?

Your best customers do not know where you are on Thursday. The market moves, the festival is on, the pitch changed and your story is gone by lunch. Meanwhile a search for food nearby shows businesses with doors.

A normal listing is built around an address. A pop-up needs a listing built around dates and pitches, and one that stays off the map when you are not out.

Mosey has a business type for exactly that, so you are searchable, ratable and findable while you trade.

How do pop-up listings work on Mosey?

  1. Host as a food truck or pop-up

When you host your business, choose Food truck or Pop-up instead of a fixed address. You give your home town and country, not a street.

  2. Post an appearance

Add where and when you will be trading: a name, an address, a start and an end, and the menu you will serve there if you like. Tap We're here now to start one at once, using your device's location when your browser shares it.

  3. Be found while you trade

Your pin shows on the map and in near-you results only while an appearance is live. Followers who turned on updates are notified when you post, and upcoming dates appear in the events feed.

What do customers see?

Dates, not an address

Your page lists your next dates. On the website, the directions link appears only for the stop you are at now, so nobody turns up at an empty pitch.

Your menu where you are

Pin a menu to an appearance so customers see what you are serving at that market, not your whole range.

Ratings that follow you

People rate what they ate, wherever you were. Your rating stays with your listing, so a new pitch starts with your name behind it.

Posting an appearance and telling your followers cost nothing. Mosey's fee on card payments is in the table below, and Mosey takes no commission on tips.

  3. Build your menu in Menu Builder so you can pin it to each date.
  4. Open Appearances and add your next date: a name, an address, a start and an end, and the menu.

How is this different from posting your location on social media?

A story disappears and a post gets buried. Your Mosey listing keeps your next dates together, and the pin moves only when you are out, so the map never sends anyone to yesterday's pitch.

A post does not tell a customer a truck is two streets away. Mosey puts a live appearance in near-you results, and your followers get a notification when you post.

Who is a pop-up listing for?

Food trucks, market stalls, supper clubs, festival traders and anyone who sells from a different pitch each week. If you also run a permanent premises, host that as a fixed business.

Pop-ups and food trucks: questions from owners

  • Do I need an address to host a pop-up?

No. You give a home town and a country. Each appearance has its own address, and your listing needs no fixed one.

  • When does my pin show on the map?

Only while an appearance is live. Between dates it is hidden, so nobody is sent to an empty pitch.

  • Can I switch from a fixed address to a pop-up later?

Yes. Open Business model in your account. Switching back to a fixed address needs a real address.

  • Who is told when I post an appearance?

Followers who turned on updates get a notification, and upcoming dates also show in the events feed.

  • Can customers order ahead from my truck?

Not yet. Customers can find you, follow you, see your menu and pay with Mosey Pay when they reach you.
