Why can't customers find my café or restaurant online?

Most owners know the feeling. The food is good, the regulars are loyal, and yet a stranger walking past at half six has no idea what is on your menu or whether you are open. People choose where to eat on their phone, and a page with no photographs, no menu and the wrong hours loses them in seconds.

Reviews add a second worry. A one-star rating lands, you do not see it for a day, and when you do there is nowhere sensible to answer. A rating from a night you never served does the same damage as a fair one, and a business that never replies reads as a business that does not care.

Many food businesses are already listed and rated on Mosey before the owner has ever signed in. Claiming that page is free, and it puts you in charge of what people see and how you answer.

How does getting found on Mosey work?

  1. Claim your page

Search for your business, confirm it is yours and sign in. Claiming is free and needs no card. Your page already holds what Mosey knows about you, so you begin by correcting it rather than typing from scratch.

  2. Fill it in once

Add your opening hours, a cover photograph, your best dishes and two or three lines about what you cook. The setup checklist on your Overview ticks each step as you save it, and a scan of your paper menu gets the dishes in quickly.

  3. Answer every rating

Ratings arrive for individual dishes, often with a photograph. Open Reviews, read what the customer said and reply under your business name. A calm, specific reply is read by the next person deciding where to eat.

What do my customers see on Mosey?

A page that answers the first questions

Your page shows what you serve, your hours, your photographs and your newest ratings. If you have switched them on, there are buttons to book a table, order ahead, order delivery, get directions and call. A page that has not been claimed carries a note saying so, and offers a Follow instead.

Dishes they can search for

Customers rate and photograph what they actually ate, so one well-rated plate can bring in someone who has never heard of you. They find it by searching for the dish, the mood or the neighbourhood rather than for your name.

Your town or city page

Every business appears on its town or city page automatically. There is nothing to set up, and the better your ratings, the higher you sit.

Mosey Gold is earned from ratings alone. Nobody can pay for it, boost it or subscribe to it, which is why it means something to a customer.

How do I set up my page in an afternoon?

  1. Search for your business with Find your business and claim it. It is free and takes a few minutes.
  2. Open the setup checklist on your Overview and start with photo and hours.
  3. Scan your paper menu or add dishes by hand, then read every line before you publish, because a misread price is a real price.
  4. Photograph your six best sellers in daylight and add a cover photograph that shows the room.
  5. Give the person who answers customers the Reply to ratings permission on the Team page. Staff do not have it by default, because a reply is published under your name.
  6. Post when something really changes, such as a new dish or new hours. One good post a week beats five thin ones.

What does it cost to be listed and get found?

Nothing. Listing your business, claiming your page, collecting ratings, replying to them and appearing on your town or city page are all free, and Mosey Gold cannot be bought. Fees only appear when you take money through Mosey, such as an order or a booking with a deposit, and each feature page shows its own rate. Paid reach, such as sending a notification to your followers, is optional and shows its exact price before you commit.

See pricingCommission is quoted before VAT. Irish VAT of 23% is added to our fee, not to your food.

How is this different from a review site or a social page?

A review site gives you a star average and a comment box. Mosey asks customers to rate the dish they ate and to add a photograph, so your best plate becomes findable on its own. That does more for a kitchen than a single number out of five.

A social page needs feeding constantly, and the people who see it already follow you. Mosey shows your page to people looking for something to eat, with your menu, hours and booking buttons beside your ratings, so a customer can act on the spot.

You cannot delete a rating, and nobody can pay to hide one. That is why customers trust them, and why a good reply is the best answer you have. A rating that breaks the rules, such as abuse or a rating from someone who was never there, can be reported for moderation.

Is this right for a café, restaurant, bar or food truck?

Yes for all four, and for bakeries, delis and takeaways. The page is built around food, so anyone who serves it can claim one. A café with a loyal morning crowd uses it to be found at lunch. A restaurant uses it to turn Saturday walk-ins into regulars who rate. A bar that serves food uses its dishes to reach people who would never have searched for a pub. A food truck uses posts to say what is on today.

Getting found and replying to ratings: your questions

  • How much does it cost to be listed on Mosey?

Nothing. Listing and claiming are free, and so are ratings, replies and your town or city page. Fees apply only when you take money through Mosey, and the pricing page lists every rate.

  • Can I reply to a bad rating?

Yes. Open Reviews and reply under your business name. Keep it short and specific, thank the customer, say what you will do and offer to talk privately by message. People reading the thread judge you by the reply.

  • Can I delete a rating I do not agree with?

No. A rating belongs to the customer, and nobody can pay to hide one. If it breaks the rules, for example abuse or a rating from someone who was never there, you can report it for moderation.

  • What is Mosey Gold and can I buy it?

Gold is an earned mark shown wherever your business appears. It comes from ratings alone, so it cannot be bought, boosted or subscribed to.

  • Who on my team can reply to ratings?

People with the Reply to ratings permission. Owners and managers have it by default. Staff do not, because a reply is published under your name, but an owner can switch it on for one person.

  • My business is already on Mosey. How do I take control of it?

Search for it with Find your business, confirm that it is yours and sign in. The page already holds what Mosey knows, so you correct your hours, add photographs and a menu, and start replying.

  • Do customers need the app to see my page?

Your page is in the app, and a claimed page with content also appears on the Mosey website, where search engines can find it. Booking, ordering and following happen in the app.

  • How do I get more ratings?

Ask your regulars in person and keep your page link on a card at the till. Ratings are of dishes, so ask people to rate what they enjoyed. Gold follows from honest ratings and nothing else.
