What Mosey does

Daily food games on Mosey: three free puzzles, a new set every day

Ladle, Origin and Ingredient are three quick food puzzles with a fresh set each day. Guess the dish, pin where it comes from, climb the ladder. They are free, and on the website you need no account.

What are the Mosey food games?

Mosey has three daily food puzzles. Ladle asks you to guess a dish. Origin asks where five foods come from. Ingredient asks seven questions about one dish, from easy to expert.

A new set arrives every day at midnight where you are. Play on this website with no account, or in the Mosey app.

How do I play the daily food games?

  1. Pick a game

Open Today's games. Ladle, Origin and Ingredient each have a card, and a new puzzle for each one appears at midnight where you are.

  2. Play it

Ladle gives you six tries, Origin gives you five pins and Ingredient gives you seven questions. Each one ends with the answer, a short story about the food and a way to find it on a menu near you.

  3. Share and come back

Share your result without giving the answer away, then come back tomorrow to keep your streak going.

How does Ladle work?

Ladle is a guess-the-dish game. You have six tries, and every guess must be a dish Mosey knows, chosen from a list as you type. Each guess comes back as seven tiles compared with the answer: cuisine, origin, main ingredient, course, vegetarian, allergens and spice.

A pale tile is a match, a copper striped tile is close and a dark tile is no match. Arrows point towards the answer. Hard mode makes you keep every clue you have already matched.

How does Origin work?

Origin shows you five foods, and you tap a world map where each one comes from. The closer your pin, the more points: up to a thousand each and five thousand in a day. A pin inside the right region scores the full thousand.

Prefer not to use the map? Type a country or region instead. When people disagree about where a food comes from, Origin scores you against the nearest credible claim and then shows every claim with its source.

How does Ingredient work?

Ingredient gives you one dish and seven questions with four answers each, from easy to expert. Answer right to climb a rung. One wrong answer ends the climb, or two in easy mode.

The top rung is always about allergens: which allergen does this dish contain? Your score is how high you got.

What are streaks and weekly leagues?

One streak counts the days you finish any of the three games. A weekly freeze covers a single missed day.

In the app you can also join a weekly league with the people you follow who follow you back. There is no public leaderboard: only friends see your standing.

How do I share my result?

Every game ends with a share card and a text grid. Neither ever contains the answer, so you can post one without spoiling anyone's day. There is a high-contrast option for the squares.

Copy the text, copy the link or use your phone's share sheet.

Do the games change with where I live?

Each market has its own puzzle: Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Choose yours on the hub. Food names and allergen lists follow it, so an allergen question follows the rules where you live.

Distances show in miles in the United Kingdom and the United States and in kilometres in Ireland and Canada, and you can switch.

Why play food games on Mosey?

Because every puzzle ends in food you can actually go and eat. You learn where a dish comes from, read a short story about it and see places near you that serve it. There are no prizes, no pressure and no account needed to start.

  • Free on the website with no account, and in the app.
  • One streak across all three games, with a freeze each week.
  • Results you can share without spoiling the answer.

Questions about the daily food games

  • Are the food games free?

Yes. The games are free, there are no prizes and there is nothing of value to win.

  • Do I need an account to play?

Not on the website. Your browser keeps a random code, so your streak and results stay yours without a sign-in. The Mosey app keeps them on your account instead, on every device.

  • When does a new puzzle start?

At midnight where you are. The hub counts down to the next set.

  • Can I play an old puzzle?

No. A puzzle can be played only on its own day. Every past answer is listed under past puzzles once the day has ended everywhere, with the story behind it.

  • Where is my streak kept?

On the website, in the browser you played in. In the app, on your account. The streak counts the days you finish any of the three games, win or lose.

  • What does the freeze do?

It covers one missed day each week so a single slip does not end your streak. Two missed days in a row, or a second missed day in the same week, end it.

  • Can a business pay to be an answer?

No. A business can never pay to appear in a puzzle.

  • Are the games for children?

Mosey Games are for people aged eighteen and over.

  • Why does it ask for my location?

Only when you ask it to find the dish near you. Your browser asks first, and the location is used for that one search and not kept.
