How to buy a voucher for a place, or send it as a gift
Mosey · 23 October 2026 · 4 min read

To buy a voucher on Mosey, open Vouchers or a place that sells them and tap Buy voucher. Enter an amount above the minimum, choose whether it is for you or a gift, add a message and a date if you want it to arrive later, and pay with your saved card. The voucher appears in your wallet or in your friend's, with a code that the place scans or types in.
Where do you find places that sell vouchers?
The Vouchers page lists places that sell them, with filters such as Dinner places, Brunch, Worth the spend, Bonus credit and Allergen friendly. Each card shows the lowest amount, any bonus and tags such as Perfect for treats, Special occasion, Great gift or Valid for 1 year. A place's own page also shows a Buy voucher button if it sells them. Turn on location to see vouchers from places near you.
How do you choose the amount?
On the Buy a voucher screen, enter the voucher amount. The minimum for that place is shown on the screen. Some places add bonus credit as an incentive, and the screen shows the sum: pay one amount, get a larger credit, and the bonus percentage. Some vouchers are marked Members only, which means you need to be a member of the place first.
The total, including any fee, is worked out when you pay. If the app cannot work out the total, check your connection; fees are added at payment, so the figure on the screen may not be your final total.
How do you send it as a gift?
Switch on Send as gift. Add a recipient username, or an email address, or both. If they are not on Mosey yet, they get an email and find the gift when they sign up. Choose when they should receive it: Send now, or pick a date and schedule delivery. You can add an occasion, such as Birthday, Thank you, Congrats, Anniversary or Christmas, and a personal message. A "send on the day" option delivers it on the date of the occasion.
What about loyalty?
The screen explains it: loyalty is earned when the voucher is spent, not when you buy it. If you send it as a gift, the person you send it to earns the rewards each time they use it. If it is for you, each visit where you use it counts towards the place's loyalty programme.
What about your right to cancel?
The screen says you can cancel and get your money back within 14 days, as long as the voucher is unused. If you want to use the voucher straight away, you can tick a box that waives that right. Leave it unticked and you keep the 14 days. You can still use the voucher either way.
Do you need a payment card?
Yes. If you have none saved, the app asks you to add a payment card to buy vouchers. Card details are handled by Stripe. If the purchase does not go through, the app tells you why, and you can try again.
What if a place does not appear?
Not every place sells vouchers. Ask them whether they plan to, or look at places that do. If you are buying for a occasion, set the delivery date a day early so the message arrives in time.
What happens after you pay?
The voucher appears in the recipient's wallet with the original amount, the remaining balance and an expiry date. Read how to use and manage a voucher for what to do next.
