Known for its and mouthwatering menu and beautiful interiors, Humble is nestled in the seaside village, Bundoran in County Donegal.

We sat down with Reena to talk about her journey into the cafe world and the inspiration behind the food at Humble. Plus what dishes on the menu she can't stay away from!

'My name is Reena and I'm from Humble Bundoran. We are a newly opened coffee shop and soon to come wine bar in the evenings! We opened last year in October, the end of October 2023, just in time for Halloween. And we are nearly one year in. We’ve a lot learned and a lot more to be learned.'

New Beginnings

'When I was young, pre-college, I always wanted a coffee shop, you know, one of those ideas and it kind of spiraled from there.

When the business next door to our existing abode home interior shop closed, we had the brainwave of taking it over. Not changing a whole lot, but making a few additions. A whole new menu, all new staff.'

The Menu

'The food I cannot take credit for, it’s a team effort from start to finish. So not only just ourselves, but all the chefs in the kitchen, the team on the floor, everyone has an input into the menu and what everyone else likes.I think if everyone has input, there is something for everybody there.

We're very blessed with all the staff we have, we have a great team in there. The food is absolutely amazing.

I would have been a very plain eater, whereas now I'm a lot more adventurous and I trust everyone in the kitchen with food.So it suits even your plain eaters to fancy Dublin city slickers coming up for the weekend surfing. There’s even more fishy dishes and that kind of thing, plus the vegetarian dishes are absolutely to die for!'

Favourite Dish

'For breakfast I'm the same old all the time - the french toast with the lemon curd and cream cheese on top is my go-to at the weekend.

Lunch, I am obsessed with the halloumi focaccia with the sweet chilli dip on top. Oh it's absolutely amazing! I’d never had halloumi before now halloumi on the side of breakfast, halloumi all the time!

The pil pil prawns as well, never had prawns before, now I'm all about the prawns. If I feel like a fancy bit of a lunch, harissa fried eggs or the chorizo and the potatoes. Everything like that, it's a good hearty meal with the egg then on top, that's sort of my go-to, then you have the regular humble fry, as well and then the sweet treats then after that to top it all off.'

Visit Humble!

'We are here six days a week open early in the morning and we close late! I like my coffee at half four, five o'clock, so we're here, we open the doors at 8am and the kitchen is from 9am to 4pm and the last coffee is at 5.30pm.

We look forward to welcoming everybody to Humble Bundoran!'
